Photos from Wang Hai Jun Seminar, March 23-25, 2007
Open Sky welcomed Master Wang Haijun, a 12th generation, direct-lineage successor of Chen style Tai Chi, at our seminar March 23-25, 2007. While perfoming the movements of Tai Chi, Master Wang proved himself to be an explosive powerhouse. During class he was accessible, easy to be with, and full of good humor. 51 people attended this first auspicious seminar here in the Triangle of North Carolina.

Master Wang taught silk reeling and push hands on Friday night and the beginning of the Chen form lao jia in depth at this seminar. Beginners through advanced practitioners attended the seminar and Master Wang was able to integrate the entire group seamlessly and infuse a beauty of movement to us.

We want to thank photographer Martha Hamblin of Photophish.com for the great photos she took of Open Sky's seminar with Master Wang.
We also want to thank the people who traveled to our seminar and helped with classes including Michael Greanish from Ireland, James Weston of Clayton, N.C., Eric Petrie from Boone, N.C. , and Stan Baker of Connecticut for all his help coordinating the seminar. We want to heartily thank our great student body at Open Sky for open heartedly embracing and attending this seminar.

Master Wang Haijun moved to Chen Village to live and study (beginning at age 9) with Chen Zhenglei, current grandmaster of Chen Style Tai Chi. As he continued to excel in his studies, at the age of 16 he was invited by Chen Zhenglei to travel with him and demonstrate his skill. Master Wang won over a dozen gold medals in China and worldwide Tai Chi competition for forms, weapons and push hands (martial competition). Now a celebrated teacher living in Manchester, England, he is known for his tremendous explosive "fajin" power, depth of movement, and clear teaching style.
For more information on Tai Chi, see the dojo's Tai Chi page, or Master Wang's web page in English. Master Wang has loyal followings in Europe and in America. Wang Hai Jun was featured in Tai Chi Magazine in the August, 2005 issue.
